Housed inside an auto-dimming rearview mirror is a light detection system. When bright lights appear, the mirror releases an electric pulse into a clear gel that sits behind the glass. This gel undergoes a chemical change that darkens it in response to the electric surge. Acting just like a pair of sunglasses to block harsh rays, this darkened gel absorbs the bright light while still allowing you to see the objects behind you reflected on the mirror's surface.
There are vehicles featuring auto-dimming technology at i.g. Burton & Co. Inc. Visit us to take a test drive, and we'll explain this useful feature in more depth.
