When salt is left in the car for a long time, it eventually causes corrosion. With that in mind, ensure that you wash your car on a regular basis. Also, wax the car frequently to give it a protective layer from harmful salt.
When washing the car, do it when it is hot outside. Avoid freezing temperatures that will lead to your car freezing before it dries. Also, start washing with the highest setting of the pressure nozzle to blast all the salt off your car. Spray the water from the top part, working downwards.
Scrub your wheel wells and the wheels thoroughly as this is where the salt slush loves hiding. Avoid using dishwashing soap as this will remove the wax coating that you covered the car with. For stubborn salt stains, use baking soda and add it to your rinsing water. After washing, take your time to dry out the car thoroughly. Wax it again.
