How to Share the Road with Bicyclists

People on bikes have the right to ride along on the road just like you do in your automobile. Unfortunately, bikes don't provide anywhere near as much protection as a vehicle does. Because of this, you'll want to make sure you keep your eyes peeled for bicyclists on the road with you. This will keep everybody safe while they are en route.

Understand that bikes have the same rules of the road to follow. They have to abide by stop signs, traffic lights and lane changes. Don't assume they're going to let you pass because you're in a car.

Be sure to leave more than enough room in between you and someone on their bike if you need to pass them because they're going slower than you are. Leave about 4 feet in between you and that person.

Watch out for children on bikes in the summertime.
